Rain BarrelsDo you like about gardening? do you love flowers? or do you have your own garden in your home? I think you will know about this thing, Rain Barrels. A rain barrels or sometimes called rain water barrels water tank (in North America or a water butt in the UK) is a water tankwhich is used to collect and store rain water runoff, typically from rooftops via rain gutters. Rainwater tanks are devices for collecting and maintaining harvested rain. it is important tool because it decreases the high demand for domestic water in which residential irrigation can account for up to 40% of consumption. By collecting rain water and storing it a rain barrel you’ll have water for future use, whether it’s for watering the garden or just keeping it handy for emergency situations. A stored water may be used for watering gardens, agriculture, flushing toilets, in washing machines, washing cars, and also for drinking.

There are several type of rain barrels that can be use. usually it classified according to models, functions, and materials. There are several materials that commonly used for rain barrel and tanks.
  1. Polyethylene or Plastic
  2. Poly tanks are made from polyethylene; a UV stabilized, food grade plastic. The tanks are light, you only need a sand base to place them on, they come in a wide variety of colors and have a long serviceable life. Many poly tanks carrying a 25 year warranty
  3. Steel Tank
  4. When you choose steel rain barrels for your need, you must give your attention for corrosion process. For this reason, three materials are most popular - Galvanized steel, Zincalume® and Colorbond®. That material have higher corrosion resistant that steel.
Galvanized tanks have been around for over 150 years and are usually the cheapest type of tank. The Zinc helps slow down corrosion, but depending on environmental factors, a galvanized tank may last well under 5 years, particularly if the roof of the structure capturing the rainwater is made from Zincalume.
Zincalume® was originally used for roofing. It's a a mix of 55% aluminium, 43.5% zinc and 1.5% silicon bonded to steel.
Colorbond is Zincalume with a conversion layer applied to the surface of the steel to improve adhesion; then a polyester primer baked on, followed by a top coat of paint that is also baked on.
  5. Fiberglass Tanks
  6. As fiberglass tanks tend to allow more light in than other types of tank materials, this can encourage the growth of algae, so they should be painted. Fiberglass can also tend to be brittle, leaving it prone to cracks - something you don't want, particularly in an in-ground situation.
For a model, i think you should look by your self and find which one is most matching. You can look rain barrels for sale in a lot of different store. You can also the picture, and rain barrels specification.
